Mr. Paul Rhoads 1918-2001
Each year the San Antonio Transportation Association awards the Paul Rhoads Memorial Scholarship as part of its scholarship program. A deserving student of Logistics Management is selected to be honored with this special award. Applicants are evaluated based on their dedication to the logistics industry, their academic achievements, and personal ambitions. Mr. Rhoads dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his fellow man. He served in the US Army during World War II by working on railroads in the European Theater. Following the War he continued to serve in the Army reserves, retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Paul continued to serve the rail industry, retiring as the District Sales Manager for the Kansas City Southern Railway in 1984. Later he and his wife moved to San Antonio where he continued to serve our industry and our country as a member and director of both the San Antonio Transportation Association and the San Antonio Chapter of the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA). Paul spent countless volunteer hours building and improving these 2 organizations. His tenacity and determination to build the SATA permitted it to grow and expand its membership. The San Antonio Transportation Association is proud to honor Paul’s memory each year by helping a worthy student advance their education through the Paul Rhoads Memorial Scholarship.
